Health Information

Please refer to the following weblink to get information on the vaccinations recommended by the Center of Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) during your trip to India.

CDC  recommends that you are up-to-date with routine shots such as, measles/mumps/rubella (MMR) vaccine, diphtheria/pertussis/tetanus (DPT) vaccine, poliovirus vaccine, etc. CDC also recommends Hepatitis A, Typhoid, Rabies and Polio vaccination. It also recommends taking a prescription anti-malarial drug before travel.

First Orientation Meeting

We will meet on the following two days to go over visa application and other trip related issues:

December 2, 12noon-1pm

December 3, 3-4pm

As a preparation for the meeting, please get the following to our meeting in the conference room 303. The Indian Embassy requires the following to be submitted with the application:

a. two passport sized photos (2 latest identical passport size photographs - black/white or color – depicting front pose against light background on photographic paper.)

b. proof of address (Photocopy of state issued ID (Driver License or ID), or major utility bill (Water, Gas, Electric, Sewage) must be submitted with the application. The following items are not accepted: cell phone bill, credit card statement, bank statement or lease. The address cannot include a P.O. box. For minors, a parent or guardian proof of address may be submitted instead.)

c. laptop, if possible, so that you can apply for your visa during the session

You will need to login using your UNCG student ID and password. The application consists of three forms that you will need to fill out by October 15th:

Welcome UNCG students!

This study abroad program will offer UNCG students an opportunity to study the architecture, history, and culture of northern and western India. The students will enroll in IAR 499-01: International Field Studies course; and the study abroad trip will take place for two weeks during and after the spring break of 2010.

Through this study abroad program, the students will travel to architecturally significant sites located within and around major cities such as New Delhi, Agra, Sikri, Jaipur and Jodhpur.
